NYC Hope & Possibilities Race
We are all back home and we had a wonderful time in New York City.
We had great weather, a super fun race, and a fantastic time messing around.
First who was on the trip: Kimmer, George came up from Bethesda, MD, Linda and Michael Roberts, Pete Greenwood, Barb and Sheri, Andrea Hoerr and Erica.
Pete decided to try an easy spin on the handcycle but got a flat right at the first turn (200-300 yds out).
Erica ran with guide Andrea and hit their goal of doing it in 1 hour.
Barb and Sheri walked with our buddy George thru Central Park. George is walking great - back to the days before shattering her ankle while skiing in Steamboat Springs, CO.
Michael walked with wife and daughter - they got one heck of a round of applause while coming into the finish line. Mary Bryant called out his name, got all chocked up herself - the fire truck rang its bell, the crowd roared and we all applauded with mounds of Hope and Possibilities
Kimmer - not a great day, my legs felt like lead balloons on Sunday, I ran 1 minute slower then last year but managed to win first place in my category of "ambulatory disabled" anyway.
Half the group stayed at the SSMA Club on Lexington and 37th and the other half was at the Doubletree Hotel on Lexington and 51st.
We girls got into a lot of fun things:
The Roberts' had front row seats on Saturday night for an off off Broadway show at South Seaport through their very special friend Tug.
Meanwhile the Freedom Team which was staying at the SSMA Club went to the Empire State Building on Friday night - got in free with a private tour, did a big dinner party on Saturday night.
And then we all partied at an Irish Pub Sunday after the race - great food, free drinks, wonderful music and lots of fun.
